Gift Ideas
Me
- Rubber Stamps
I use these a lot for craft & am always after more. Any style
(except cartoon or "homestyle country" stuff...you'll have
an idea what I like), any theme...interesting stamps are always a
joy to receive and use :)
Unmounted sheets are usually better value
for money (& easier to post...not to mention easier for me to
store) but mounted stamps are fine as well.
They can be purchased online (so you don't have to post them yourself),
or from a craft shop like Spotlight (although I can get a better selection
in Australia) or specialist stamping/scrapbooking shops like the wee
one on Colombo St near where the Firehouse used to be (opposite Funky
Pumpkin) or the one at the CPIT end of High St.
Some online places I like include:
- Invoke
Arts (anything from there is beautiful)
- Paperartsy
(they supply Ink
& the Dog stamps to Australia & NZ)
- Paperbag
Studios (again, fantastic stamps but their unmounted stamps are
a bit more pricey...but well worth it, I think)
- Lost
Aussie Designs (no, not an Australian site but some interesting
UM sheets nevertheless)
- Inkadinkado
(I already own several of their gorgeous stamps...& their
website is currently being updated...but you can buy their mounted
stamps in shops in NZ...as well as online, of course)
- Kiwi
Impressionz (A good old home-grown company. I don't like all
of their designs - most of it is too cartoony...& I own a
few of their stamps already...but I'm particularly fond of their
Pacifica range. You can buy their stamps in most scrapbooking
shops in Chch, as well as online).
- Paper, Ephemera and other Collage Goodies
By paper, I mean interesting designs, colours & textures to use
in collage & craft. Again, these can be purchased in the Chch
shops I've mentioned above (I highly recommend the shop in High street)
or online. You can also get a range of interesting embellishments,
collage sheets, transparent stickers, etc etc etc...basically just
cool stuff to add to altered books & other craft.
- Ink Pads
To use in rubber stamping. The cheapest & most versatile is probably
the Versa Color range of pigment inks...they produce a range
of small inkpads in a huge range of colours that retail in good craft
& scrapbooking shops in NZ for a couple of dollars each (&
they're easy to post). Any colour, any amount...it's all good :)
There are other types & brands of inks as well but I've had good
results with Versa Color & for the price, they're a nice way to
experiment with colour without huge expense. Embossing powders are
also nice but I don't use them as much. I'm also looking at getting
some alcohol-based inks for use on glass & metal...but because
most of them come in a bottle, I don't recommend posting them.
